€800,000 in payments to Kildare Farmers

 

Kildare South Fianna Fáil T.D., Seán Ó Feargháil, has welcomed the approval of €828,549 in funding for County Kildare under the 2008 Disadvantaged Area Scheme (DAS).

Deputy Ó Feargháil stated that according to the Minister for Agriculture Fisheries and Food, Brendan Smith, T.D, the first payments were being made this week and that the majority of eligible farmers could expect payment within a couple of days.

“This is a very significant injection of funding into the rural economy of County Kildare and will I know be warmly welcomed by hundreds of farming families who have experienced significant difficulties due to the recent wet weather.”

“Minister Smith is continuing to build on Fianna Fáil’s strong tradition of investing in rural communities and defending the interests of our farmers.”

Deputy Ó Feargháil also encouraged any farmers who might experience delays in receiving their payments to contact a special lo-call number which has been established by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food - 1890 200 114.
