200 Redundancies at Intel

Intel have announced their intention to offer 200 voluntary redundancies at their production plant in Leixlip.

The plant is one of the company's most important European operations for the production of computer processors and chips.

Intel vice president Jim O'Hara said that it is part of a a restructuring of the company to retain competitiveness.

The 200 jobs represents around 4% of the workforce of Intel's Irish operation.

The announcement comes alongside a new report by the ESRI, which found that there was a significant decrease in job vacancies in Ireland last month.
