The classic Hans Christian Andersen story of "The little Match Seller" will be adapted and brought to life in a magical performance of ‘The little Match Girl’ at Riverbank Arts Centre on Sunday 13th December.  Produced & directed by Paula Conlan of local performance school, StageWorks, ‘The Little Match Girl’ is a modern version of the Hans Christian Andersen fairytale.

The show tells the story of Dodge, a twelve-year old girl, an orphaned street kid, cleverly fending for herself. On New Year’s Eve, she meets James, a fourteen-year old runaway whose sour outlook on life, Dodge finds challenging. Dodge decides to show James "the good stuff" of his life by revealing to him the power of the magic matchsticks given to her by her Grandmother and so the story unfolds. Both her life and his will never again be the same.

With the main parts played by local teenagers, Sara Ryan (Dodge) and Conor Mulpeter (James), this highly suspenseful play, with flashes of great action, humour and warmth will captivate and delight audiences.

This magical performance of ‘The Little Match Girl’ is the perfect event for both young and old to enjoy in the run up to Christmas.
