Heart & Soles’, a new art exhibition by Irish designer and artist Nina Divito, opens at Kildare Village outlet shopping on Monday, 11 February 2008. Just in time for St. Valentine’s Day, the romantic paintings of every lady’s favourite possession are sure to excite all its visitors. This is Nina’s first major exhibition outside Dublin.
While all women love shoes, Nina Divito has taken her devotion a step further by creating a stunning series of paintings of heavenly high heels. Nina has produced 20 exclusive paintings for the ‘Hearts and Soles’ exhibition, featuring heavenly high heels, pretty pumps, and sexy sling-backs. Nina’s work celebrates the sexiness of shoes in all their sassy, sensual glory, and at the same time pays homage to the woman who loves striding out in a pair of sky-high heels.
Nina’s collections of paintings are based on her own design ideas. She paints shoe portraits, giving them a life of their own and a dream like, surreal essence. Her work celebrates women’s shoes in all their glory.
Dubliner Nina began her career in fashion at the Sallynoggin Senior College before moving on to the College of Art, Technology & Design in Dun Laoghaire where she studied fine art. She then continued her studies in the UK, gaining a degree in design from the arts institute in Bournemouth. After some time working in the film industry, she was accepted into the prestigious shoe making course in Cordwainers at the London College of Fashion.
Since graduation, Nina has been working to establish her own footwear label, and has also been putting her designs on canvas. In 2006, Elle Magazine described Nina as “the next big talent” and Nina has since enjoyed continued success with her paintings. Her most recent exhibition “Champagne & Shoes” featured at Krystle Nightclub, Dublin.
