BBC Jazz Vocalist of the Year to play Riverbank

Christine Tobin Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, Rufus Wainwright and the late, great Elis Regina…these legendary artists are the inspiration for award winning Jazz artist Christine Tobin’s music. And now this talented singer is bringing her music to Newbridge for one night only at Riverbank Arts Centre.

Since moving to the UK from Dublin singer-songwriter Christine Tobin has gained a reputation as one of the most innovative and versatile artists on the jazz scene. A musical free spirit, Christine has broken down genres to create her own unique style that is romantic, radical, streetwise and eclectic. Christine’s distinctive expression has led to her being described as the ‘Björk of Euro jazz’ and, in 2008, she was hailed as the BBC Jazz Vocalist of the year.

Much of her music is self-penned and Tobin has received many accolades for her skills as composer, arranger and lyricist, as well as for her vivid interpretations of the music of others. Those who love jazz will delight at Christine Tobin’s skill while music lovers in general will be blown away by this woman ability to interpret popular music legends like Dylan and Cohen.

Don’t miss out on the this chance to see Chrisitne Tobin, BBC Jazz Vocalist of the Year, October 9th, 8pm at Riverbank  Arts Centre. Tickets €12/€10. Book at www.riverbank.ie or call 045 448327.

“a jewel of the London jazz scene, streets ahead of the pack… She should be on a global stage, rubbing shoulders with fellow troubadours like Cave, Mitchell and Cohen.”  ****
