Newbridge Parenting Workshop

The Bridge Community Development Project

Parenting Workshop

7th - 8th March 2007

The Bridge Community Development Project is hosting a parenting workshop. This workshop will take place over two nights which will be held on Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th March.

The workshops will take place from 7 to 9 pm in Charlotte House, Charlotte Street, Newbridge (beside the Parish Centre).

This course will be a holistic approach to modern parenting and include discussion around conflict, play, relaxation and taking care of yourself. Places are limited so please book early and before Monday 5th March.

We are also running a twelve week parenting programme through the incredible years module within our centre:

  • The course starts on 22nd March until 21st June and runs for twelve weeks with a two week break in May.
  • This programme is being offered at night from 7 – 9:15 pm.

Seeking Summer Camp Details For Brochure

KCC Arts Service Awards Opportunities 2007

Kildare County Council Arts Service invites applications for the following schemes:

  1. Arts Act Grants Scheme
  2. Cecil Day Lewis Literary Bursary Award
  3. Kildare Dance Summer School Bursary Award
  4. Tyrone Guthrie Residency Bursary Award
  5. Drama League of Ireland Summer School Bursary Award

Closing Date for all applications Fri 16th March 2007



  1. Arts Act Grants Scheme

    Applications are invited from:


    • Arts Education/ training projects

    • Bursary awards for individual Kildare based artists for the development of their work. 

    • Assistance to groups/ organisations/ schools towards the cost of projects or events that stimulate public interest in and improve arts practice in the county.

    • Assistance to groups / organisations for the purchase of equipment

  2. Cecil Day Lewis Literary Bursary Award

    The annual Cecil Day Lewis Literary Bursary Award is open to both established and emerging writers and critics to enable:

    • Research :  towards the production of new writings

    • Formal or informal training :  Participation in a professional or post-graduate course, mentoring, or other initiative, which will expand existing practice


    The bursary award is €2,500.

  3. Kildare Dance Summer School Bursary Award

    Kildare County Council Arts Service proposes to offer two bursary awards for the third  bi - annual Kildare Dance Summer School 9th - 13th July in Maynooth College.

    The bursary will cover course fees including tuition and lunches but not accommodation.




  4. Tyrone Guthrie Residency Bursary Award

    Two bursary awards will be made to artists from all fields born or living in Co Kildare to enable them to spend two weeks at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig, the artists workplace in Monaghan. 

    Artists will be selected on the basis of their previous achievements and the project they intend to further during their working residence.

  5. Drama League of Ireland Summer School Bursary Award

    Kildare County Council Arts Service proposes to offer two bursary awards for the DLI Summer School 2007 5th - 12th August at University Limerick.  The bursary will cover course fees, including tuition, single room en-suite accommodation, meals and social programme.

First Meeting of Naas Macra na Feirme

If you are between 17 & 35 and have an interest in any of the following: activities including bowling, singing, dancing, speaking, paintballing, debating, mouse racing, paintball shooting, drama, basketball, volleyball, gaelic football, indoor soccer, an active Young Farmer Discussion Group, nights in, nights out, weekends away or just meeting plenty of people and lots more come along to hear more!

A meeting of the new Naas Macra will be held on

Monday 26th February in Naas GAA Centre at 9pm.

Macra na Feirme is a national, voluntary organisation for young people between the ages of 17 and 35. Through its club, county and national structures Macra provides a national programme of activities and competitions for young people. There are three clubs in Kildare at present: Balyna / Carbury, Monasterevan and Rathangan and there are numerous past members in Naas and the surrounding areas.

Activities cater for all interests and give a social outlet all year round – They include Volleyball, Indoor Soccer, Basketball, Public Speaking, Debating, Capers, Drama, National Talent Show, Question Time, Creative Challenge, Stock judging, Know Your Ag Table Quiz, Farm Skills, Welding, numerous adventure & travel outings, social nights etc. etc. etc….

Leadership Training is provided for club and county officers and a standard Training programme is available to all our members. Macra na Feirme is also responsible for the organisation of competitions such as the FBD Young Farmer of the Future, the Irish Farmers Journal Stephen Cullinan Scholarship, the Bank of Ireland Leadership Awards and the AIB Club of the Year.

So if you are between 17 and 35 and have an interest in some, any or all of the above why not come along to the first meeting of the new Naas Macra at 9pm in Naas GAA Club on Monday 26th February. Leixlip Tidy Town Association Launch their website.

Leixlip Tidy Town Association (LTTA) will launch their website on Tuesday 13th February in the Springfield Hotel in Leixlip, Co. Kildare. The public is welcome to attend the launch at which committee member Pascal Canning will give a short demonstration of the website and its features.
