Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Best Dressed Window Competition Winners

The Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby weekend is finally upon us, and Dubai Duty Free have officially announced the deserved winners of the Best Dressed Window competition. Now in its third year, entrants went bigger and better, and with much difficulty, Sinead El Sibai, Senior Vice President of Dubai Duty Free, chose the Kildare based winners.

In first place came An Chistin and Il Ponte Nuovo restaurant in Newbridge, scooping the grand prize of €1,500 and a VIP day in the private Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Pavilion on derby day, July 1st.

In second place came the Silken Thomas pub in Kildare town and third place went to The Man’s Shop in Newbridge.

The second place winner, Silken Thomas, was awarded €1000 in cash and four general admission tickets for the big race day and third place, The Man’s Shop took home €500 in cash and four general race tickets.

All finalists were honoured for their effort in decorating their businesses in the spirit of Dubai, travel and horse racing to welcome the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Festival to Kildare.

Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of Dubai Duty Free, Colm McLoughlin said, "This is our 10th year as title sponsor of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby and it is great to see the local community getting involved in all of the ancillary events that happen around the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby itself. There were so many fantastic entries into the Best Dressed Window competition this year and it was amazing to see the effort the local businesses went to. We feel the three finalists deserved the prizes and we’d like to thank everyone else for entering."

The winners will be presented with their cash prizes at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby on Saturday July 31st. Colm McLoughlin, CEO of Dubai Duty Free and Sinead El Sibai, Senior Vice President of Dubai Duty Free will present the winners with their prizes in the parade ring at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby at The Curragh racecourse.

Throughout the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Festival at the Curragh Racecourse, racegoers can also enjoy lots of live music performances, a fantastic food village and exclusive styles stakes! This year’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Weekend promises to be a glorious celebration of Ireland’s most prestigious racing over three days:

Friday, 30th June SportsJoe Derby Friday featuring the Hackett Apprentice Jockeys Derby and the party night of the festival with the ‘Apres Racing Party’ featuring the Honky Tonk Angels. Friday is the day for the men to up their style stakes as the Hackett judges look for The Curragh’s Most Stylish Man.  1st race 5.45pm.

Saturday, 1st July is the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby and the highlight of the racing and style calendar so now is the time for the ladies to focus on fashion and think high style. This is the day to sport your A-game and make sure your style is spot on.  1st race 2pm with the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby off at 5.20pm.

Sunday, 2nd July is all about families with an exciting line up of entertainment for children. Style-wise today is the day for more a more relaxed look that will still keep you chic trackside.   The Group One Pretty Polly Stakes and Comer Group International Curragh Cup are the highlights on the track.  1st race 1.45pm
