EASTENDERS (1997) Scenes filmed at Pat Murphy's Pub, Ballymore Eustace in two weeks in July and August 1997.
BBC TV Soap. Pauline Fowler (Wendy Richard) and various members of the Fowler and Beale family travelled to Ireland to reunite with their long-lost relatives in a special week of episodes. In the three episodes, Pauline was accompanied by her sons Mark and Martin (Todd Carty & James Alexandrou), Mark's wife Ruth (Caroline Paterson), nephew Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) and his daughter Lucy (Casy Anne Rothery). A number of Irish actors were sact as Paulines long-lost relatives, including Maggie Flaherty (Olivia Shanley) and her son Conor (Sean Gleeson) and his headstrong daughter Mary (Melanie Clark Pullen).
Viewers were angered by scenes that they felt portrayed the Irish as resentful towards the English, drunk, dirty, poor and rude.
