The minutes were reviewed from the last meeting.  Minutes were approved by Julie O’Dea and Anne Marie Coyle.

Christmas Concert

Volunteers still needed for this year’s Christmas Concert on Thursday 17th December.  Mary has sourced wine etc from O’Donovan’s for €306.  Need to purchase table clothes. Mary has provided list of what is required from school.

First Aid Certs

Certificates for some teachers are expiring.  Teachers will need to attend a refresher course.  Can PTA cover cost of this? A. Dunne/J. Nevin will check on costs from various suppliers – provide at next meeting.

Principal’s Report
Andrew Dunne presented the Principals Report.  It included:

·         Sincere thanks to Mr Collopy and Mr Hayden, both recently retired, for their many years of dedicated Service.

·         Welcome to new members of staff: Mr Gildea (Eng/Metalw) Ms Fahy (Spainish/German), Mr Noone (Geog/Hist), Ms Gaffney (Guidance C.), Ms Flaherty (LS)

·         Parent/teacher meetings – today 8th Dec for L. Certs from 9:30-12:00pm and J. Certs from 1:00pm-3:30pm.

·         Auditions and rehearsals for annual School Musical are ongoing.  The show will be on Thurs 4th Feb for 4 nights.  Fund raising activities include bag packing in Tesco and Carol singing in Manor Mills on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th from 6-8pm.

·         Transition students are organizing a collection of household electrical goods to be recycled.  They are asking each student to bring in at least one electrical item.  Items will be collected every Mon/Tues in December.

·         Christmas Charity Day will be on December 14th – non-uniform Day, decoration making competition, a fashion show using recyclable items, collection of goods for those affected by recent floods.  The money raised will go to a number of charities.

·         Applications for 1st year enrollment should be submitted by 11th Dec ’09.

·         Eportal system will be up and running very soon.  Initial administration taking time due to cutbacks on Administration resources. It is being introduced to staff on Dec 9th.  Plan to have reports in electronic format.

·         Vaccine for H1N1/Swine flu will be offered shortly by HSE.  The school continues to ask that all follow procedure to limit the spread of the virus.

·         Playing Pitch Development – There will be a meeting with GAA in January.  Survey will be completed Issue over lease ongoing. It will be a phased development.

·         Mr McKeever will be a guest speaker to 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th year students on 16th December.  He has also written a book on ‘Give Me Irish Heroes’ costs €15 of which €5 will be given to the school.

·         Other Dates – School reopens on Jan11, staff meeting on January 11 – 2:40pm-3:50pm

·         TY & 5th year Parent teacher meetings on 13th Jan from 1:50=3:50pm.
