Monasterevin Soccer Club

The Kildare and District Schoolboys League 2006/2007 kicked off on Saturday last, Monasterevin’s U12 game away against Caragh Celtic was cancelled due to the weather, however the two home games went ahead at Togher Road with U14s playing host to Kilcock Celtic.

Monasterevin went ahead through Craig Ridgeway on 15 minutes with Kilcock equalising ten minutes later. The visitors took the lead midway through the second half, but Ridgeway was on hand to convert a penalty five minutes later. Both sides had chances before the end but 2-2 was a fair reflection of the game, with good performances from Darren Harrison, scorer Craig Ridgeway, Joe Sharpe and left back Cian Harrison making his debut.

U16s collected all three points with a good 3-1 win against Prosperous Utd, going 1-0 down after 15 minutes, the home side equalised on 30 minutes through Alan Cross and went 2-1 up just before the breakthrough Barry Mitchell following a corner.

Monasterevin went further ahead half way through the second half with Robbie Whyte scoring direct from a free from 25 yards.Best for the home side were Alan Cross, Keith White and Stephen Mullen.

The Club has further increased its schoolboy teams this season with the introduction of U10s,for players born 1996, training every Monday at Togher Road 5.30pm-7pm.
