On Monday night 29th May the 14th Kildare Scout Troop officially re-opened their Scout Den. Mass was celebrated by Fr. Merrigan, music was provided by Eugene Nolan. The investiture and rededication was performed during Mass. The Den had recently suffered substantial damage due to a fire. Thanks to the members of the Scout Unit, their families and some local contributors they now have the Den back in full working order. During the ceremony on the night Fr. Merrigan remarked that it may have been a blessing in disguise as the Scout Troop rallied round in the face of adversity and they are now all the stonger for having worked together to re-build the den.  Evidence of this was in the large presence who attended the ceremony on the night. In conjunction with the re-dedication they also had an investiture for Scouts and more encouragingly leaders.

Christy McEvoy, Scout Leader, in his welcoming speech, welcomed the members of the Troop and their families to the ceremony. He thanked all who hepled in the rennovation of the Den, Scouts, Leaders, their families and everyone who contributed. He also welcomed past Leaders who attended on the night, in particular Pat Ryan, and Eugene Nolan who were involved in building the Den back in 1978.
