Kynog United continued their recent good form with a well deserved win over a spirted Sallins Cetlic team. The visitors opened the scoring in the 8th minute following a Robbie Coughlan throw which was defelected beyond Stephen Byrne. Kynog responded with some intelligent running off the ball and were awarded a free kick when Martin Baneham was brought down some 25 yards out.The same player picked himself up and drove an unstoppable shot past Stephen Kavanagh in the Sallins goal. The home team doubled their advantage when Adrian Moran fed Martin Baneham who dummied to shoot before rounding the keeper and finding the back of the net. David Callan at the heart of the Sallins defence was having an excellent game along with Jake McLoughlin in the visitors midfield. Kynogs defence were proving hard to break down with both Gavin Crowe and Eoin Quinlan getting forward at every opportunity .The home team scored again in the 28th minute following a Gavin Crowe pass which Dale Persival took in his stride before shooting across the Sallins keeper and into the corner of the net. Shortly before half time Eamon Cox increased the homes teams advantage with a move that started with Eoin Quinlan winning the ball in the full back position. the second half saw Sallins come out much the stronger and were rewarded when Jack Sharkey reduced the arrears in the 55th minute. The visitors scored once more in the 62nd minute when Philip Cluxton-Curley rose highest to head home from a corner. Sallins went in search of an equalizer but were denied by some outstanding goalkeeping by Stephen Byrne and some strong defending by Eoin O Reilly and Mark Mitchell.
