Under 7Red Kynog United V Athy

Saturday morning saw the meeting of Kynog and Athy for the first time this season, and what a match these two teams provided for thelarge crowd that showed up . It wasnt long before we had our first goal when a spot kick was awarded to Kynog, and Liam Brady foundhis target to put Kynog 1 up. Many chances were to follow in this quarter but Kynog were denied by the post on several occasions. The second quarter saw some excellent ball control and passing by Gerard O' Connor to find his team mates, but some strong defending by Athy's Robert Dunne and Even Mc Namara was to keep the score 1-0. A second goal came when a ball was passed through to Ryan Murran
who finished smartly. Dylan Waldron was to make it 3 just before the break. The third quarter saw some pressing play by Athy, shotsrained in from Oisin O'Rourke and his team mates but some excellent defending by Joe Kennedy saw Athy's efforts go a miss. Kynog pressed forward and Oisin Lawlor was to add to the scoring with a well finished goal. Moments later Ryan Murran broke through the defence to make it 5. Athy were to battle back and be awarded a spot kick and it was well finished by Niall Coffey. The last quarter was to see a strong display by Anthy who scored a good goal to make it 5-2, but Ryan Murran was to put the game out of reach with a well deserved and well worked Hat-Trick. The last few minutes saw the icing on the cake for Ryan Murran when he went on a run from midfield and beat the defence to get his 4th of the game. Credit to both teams for fine display
