Kynog United V Newbridge Town

Kynog Utd 8 – 4 Newbridge Town

In the first game of the new year, Kynog Utd and Newbridge Town played out an exciting match in the freezing fog to entertain the large crowd. Kynog opened strongly and after creating a number of good chances, were finally able to go into the lead as Shane O’Connor scored from the penalty spot, With Josh Harris and Joshua Lee controlling the midfield, Newbridge were finding it hard to break out and it was no surprise that Kynog took a 4-1 lead into half-time with further goals from O’Connor and Ciaran Casey, while David Smith scored for Newbridge. Into the second half and Newbridge started strongly puling two goals back through Conor Maguire. Kynog extended their lead again through O’Connor, only for Alfie Thompson to cut the lead to one with 10 minutes to go. Kynog, however, found another gear, with Justin Reilly in defence shutting down the Newbridge attack and with Harris in midfield pulling the strings, Kynog added three more excellent team goals finished by Casey and O’Connor to leave the final score at 8-4 after an excellent advert for Kildare underage football.
