Under 9 Kynog V Newwbridge Blue

Kynog Utd 4 - 2 Newbridge Town

Kynog and Newbridge played out an entertaining match at Kynog Park on Saturday morning. Kynog were quick out of the blocks and went in front as Joshua Lee ran onto a Justin Reilly long ball to prod home.Kynog went two in front as an excellent move saw Josh Harris find Shane O'Connor unmarked in the box to fire home. Newbridge reduced the deficit as Conor Maguire slammed a long ball past Kynog's keeper, Michael Cummins. With both teams looking for the next important goal, it was Kynog who extended their lead as another excellent move ended with O'Connor being tripped in the box before scoring from the penaty spot. Under 13 Kynog Utd V Kill Celtic

U13 major division

Kynog Utd 4       Kill Celtic 1

Birthday boy Conor Murray was the hat-trick hero for Kynog when they played a highly entertaining game against a very good Kill Celtic team. The Kynog defence of Jack Byrne, Gerry Melia, Darragh lynch and Eoin Kelly had to be alert to keep out the fast forwards of kill players Craig O toole and Stephen Mc Carthy. The Kynog midfield began to take command and a great pass from Conor Donoghue to Dylan Donoghue saw a great shot come off the post . Brian mc grath with a superb shot put Kynog one up and with the introduction of conor murray who finished off a great pass from Joseph Kenny to make it two at half time. Kill fired up by the midfield pair of glen pepper and Adam lawlor were now playing there best football and a delicate chip from Stephen mc carthy put kill right back in. Only for brave keeping from Lee Dempsey kept kill out. David dunne came on for Kynog and began to control midfield and the kill defence of Kyle drury, conor flood and joe Cusack were having to work hard to keep him out. Eventually the pressure paid off and two quick goals from Conor Murray made the game safe for Kynog. The large crowd were well entertained and both teams are a credit to there clubs as the game was played in a very friendly but competive manner and the passing combinations of both teams was great to see.

Under 13 Kynog United V Bbc

Under 13s
Kynog United 2 BBC United 1

Kynog united welcomed BBC to their grounds for this late kick off.

Kynog started strongly with great attacking runs from Dylan Donoghue

and some great passing between Brian McGrath and Conor Donoghue

in midfield. The BBC midfield bossed by Cian Herbert were well

up to the Kynog challenge and created a few chances of their own

looking very dangerous on the break. Only for some great defending

by Kynog new boys Jack Byrne and David Lee kept them at bay.

The dead lock was finally broken after 20 minutes by COnor Donoghue

after a brilliant pass by Adam Cully.

BBC started very strong in the second half and their hard hard work

paid off when they won a penalty only to be denyed by the upright.

BBC left back Robbie Myjer was being kept busy by the Kynog forwards

but seem well up to the job. some excellent saves were being made

by BBC keeper Dylan Kane and Kynog keeper Lee Dempsey.

Kynog got their second after a break up the field by Dylan Donoghue

and had some great efforts by Ade Teriba and Luke Herbert.

BBC finally got on the score sheet from a David Robson free kick

and pushed hard for an equalizer but the Kynog defence held strong.

Under 16 Kynog United V Newbridge Town

Saturday 19th September Under 16 Major Division

KYNOG UNITED      1
NEWBRIDGE TOWN 5

The final scoreline does not do justice to how closely these teams were for long periods of the game. With the surface in excellent condition both teams contrived to produce a game of good quality played at pace. Newbridge were dangerous in the first half from free kicks in wide areas and corner kicks where Kynog were struggling to win that important first header.Martin Baneham cleared a goalbound shot off the line in the 17th minute as the visitors applied more pressure. Kynog replied with a Donal McGrath shot that narrowly cleared the crossbar. Newbridge opened the scoring in the 28th minute when Sean Winning met an inswinging corner and planted his header beyond Ross Maher. The second half saw Kynog press for an equaliser in the early stages and Jason Ryan found the back of the net only for it correctly to be ruled offside.Newbridge broke away and Ricky Caffrey found space to double his teams advantage. The same player scored again in the 58th minute following some neat approach play. Further strikes from David O Dwyer and Arron Gallagher followed for Newbridge. All the time the home team kept their composure and were rewarded when Nathan Gahan found Stephen Byrne who shot beyond Ian McDonald. The visitors were best served by Barry Molloy at the heart of the defence.

A 12.15AM Kick off saw Kynog host Bridgewood. It was a great lively game right from the start. The second half commenced with both teams striving for the win. Kynogs Adam Toman and Johnny Byrne both hit the bar and were unfortunate not to score.
Bridgewood fought back and only great play from Adam Reidy and Jamie Adams kept them out.
In the 57th minute Anthony Farrell delivered the ball into the box and Adam Toman sent it home to leave the final score 2-2.

Under 16 Kynog United V Monasterevin

UNDER 16 MAJOR DIVISION   12/09/09

KYNOG UNITED        2
MONASTEREVIN       3

Both teams deserve great credit for their efforts on a very warm morning in Kynog Park. Time and space were at a premium as both teams looked to gain control in midfield in the early stages. The home team opened the scoring after 17 minutes following a short corner which Ciaron Baselmans crossed for Donal McGrath to slot home beyond Declan Donoghue. The visitors responded and were unlucky to see an effort come back off the crossbar. Kynog doubled their advantage when a Shane Merriman pass found Jimmy Lewis who rounded the goalkeeper to score. To their credit Monasterevin deservedly reduced the arrears on 34 minutes when Daniel Dee beat a couple of defenders before shooting past the advancing  Ross Maher. Half time arrived with no further score. The second half saw Monasterevin on top  in the opening minutes and Joe Sharpe equalised in the 52nd minute. The away team were being well served by Conor Hennessy. The winning goal followed a fine individual run and finish by Daniel Dee. Kynog pressed for an equaliser and went close when Jimmy Lewis shot narrowly wide. A lot of positives for both teams could be taken from the game.

Under 13 Kynog United V Castlevilla 5th Sept 09

U13 MAJOR DIVISION

KYNOG UNITED                                1              V                             CASTLEVILLA 0

Kynog started the new season at home and as always a large crowd turned out to welcome castle villa. Both teams were looking forward to getting going and to there credit they served up a cracking match. Castle villa started the brightest and the lively Darrall Byrne soon tested Lee Dempsey in the Kynog goal . The Kynog back line of David randles, eoin Kelly , darragh lynch and Gerry melia had there work cut out to keep villa scoreless . Kynog soon got into the game and brian mcgrath and conor donoghue soon got on top in midfield and a great move between them set up the rock donoghue to drive the ball to the villa net and Kynog had the lead.

Half time saw Kynog open the attack and dean bowers and joe Kenny went close but soon it was all villa again and only for Luke Herbert and adam cully villa would have equalised. As villa pressed foward a break saw ade teriba link with jack byrne to the rock and only a brilliant save from darragh Donnelly denied kynog there second. Kynog were now hanging on and to be fair only for the brilliance of Lee Dempsey in the Kynog goal castle villa would have equalised.Full time just came in time for kynog and they had there first win with man of the match between Darragh Lynch and David Randles with the Rock Donoghue getting the first of the season to see Kynog get three points.
