Under 11 Kynog United V Kilcullen

Kynog Utd 1- 2 Kilcullen

Kynog entertained Kilcullen on Saturday at Kynog Park. Kynog started slowly and Kilcullen pressed them back forcing the Kynog defenders to defend deep. Just as Kynog were forcing themselves into the match, Kilcullen took the lead when Lorcan Mason's long throw eluded the defenders and Conor Kelly fired home. Kynog pushed for an equalizer and Glen Thorpe was denied by Kilcullen keeper Brendan O'Riordan. Kynog were on top for a spell and Adam Toman and Thorpe linked up to release Craig Harris whose cross just eluded the inrushing Adam Lynch. With the game finely balanced it was Kilcullen who broke and Alex Waters fired home to take Kilcullen into half-time with a two goal lead.

The second half was mostly dominated by Kynog with Kilcullen trying to hit on the break. Kynog had a chance to get themselves into the game when Cathal Mattimoe was puled down in the box but his penalty was saved by the keeper. Within a matter of minutes Kynog had got their goal and it was Mattimoe who scored it, running on to an Adam Lynch pass to fire home. Kynog had the wind in their sails now, and Kilcullen were defending deeper and deeper as the second half wore on. Jack Clarke had his shot well saved and a corner resulted in a number of Kynog players all having chances that just wouldn't go in. Just as time was running out, Kynog had one more chance to grab an equalizer as the ball was handled in the box, however it was not to be, as with the keeper beaten, the ball came back off the post and was scrambled clear to leave Kilcullen with the win.
