The visitors started off much the brighter and were rewarded with Peter Byrne opening the scoring ater 8 minutes. Some 4 minutes later they doubled their advantage when a cross took a deflection beyond Blaine Treacy in the Kynog goal. In the opening exchanges Louis Deveraux was prominent for Newbridge in midfield. Kynog responded with Patrick Hudson and Adrian Moran going close to reducing the arrears. Then in the 32nd minute Ricky Caffrey added a third for Newbridge from close range after an initial effort had been saved. Half time arrived with Newbridge in control. The second half saw Kynog continue to create openings and they were rewarded when an Eamon Cox pass found Conor Staines who finished well. The goal of the game was scored by Louis Deveraux after 55 minutes with a great strike from 30 yards. Many teams would have accepted defeat at this stage but this group of players from Kynog showed great character for the remainder of the match. Conor Staines following a Martin Baneham flick on scored again in the 62nd minute and completed his hat-trick in the 73rd minute getting on the end of a Adrian Moran pass to leave the minimum between the teams. The remainder of the game saw Kynog push in search of an equaliser while Newbridge threatened on the break. Both teams are to be commended on an exciting game of football that kept the spectators thoroughly entertained.
