Under 15 Kynog United V Newbridge Town

SATURDAY 1ST NOVEMBER  UNDER 15

KYNOG UNITED             1
NEWBRIDGE TOWN A     5

Newbridge Town came away from Kynog Park with the points but the final scoreline does not reflect how close the game was for long spells. The visitors were the first to attack forcing Cian Gilligan into making a smart save. Newbridge were enjoying a lot of possession but they unable to unlock the Kynog defence in the early stages. In the 19th minute Conor Staines went close to scoring for the home team. Newbridge broke away and a slick passing move allowed Ian Mulligan to finish well. They doubled their advantage just 2 minutes later when a left wing cross was well headed home by Vincent Murray. To their credit Kynog regrouped and matched their opponents for the remainder of the half.
The second half saw Kynog start strongly and they were rewarded when a fine Jack Kenny pass found Conor Staines who finished well. For Kynog Martin Baneham saw a free kick just clear the crossbar whilst Newbridge were denied by a couple of excellent Cian Gilligan saves. The next goal was always going to be crucial and it arrived in the 65th minute scored by Ian Mulligan. Kynog were now pressing forward but they were caught out in the 78th minute with a deserved goal scored by Barry Coffey. The days scoring was completed in the final minute by Keith Egan with a shot from fully 30 yards.
A good game of football played in the right spirit by 2 fully committed teams.
