Kynog ran out comfortable winners in Kynog Park on Saturday last with an all round good team performance.
They opened the scoring in the 14th minute following a Gavin Crowe cross well finished by Donal McGrath. Sallins responded with Robbie Coughlan striking the post and forcing Cian Gilligan in the Kynog goal into making a couple of fine saves. The home team doubled their advantage in the 29th minute when Conor Staines beat a couple of Sallins defenders before firing beyond Jake McLoughlin.
The second half saw the home teams passing and movement improve and were rewarded in the 52nd minute by a good strike from Conor Staines across the keeper into the far corner. The home teams defence was being well marshalled by Jack Kenny. In the 56th minute Eamon Cox broke out of defence only to be fouled some 30 yards out. The subsequent free kick by Martin Baneham found the top corner of the goal. To their credit Sallins continued to press and David Callan was unlucky to see his effort strike the crossbar and was well cleared by Eoin O Reilly. The days scoring was completed by Conor Staines in the 63rd following a Shane Merriman pass.
The visitors were best served by Robbie Coughlan, David Callan and Jake McLoughlin while each player for Kynog can be pleased with their performance
