Under 8 Match Report Kynog United V Clane

Clane 0-3 Kynog Utd

Kynog’s U8’s travelled to Clane on Sunday morning looking to get their season going again after a longer winter break. Against a young Clane side, Kynog started strongly, keeping Clane penned back in their own half for long periods with Josh Harris covering every blade of grass in midfield and captain Ben O’Haire mopping up behind the midfield. It was just rewards for Kynog’s fine play when Adam O’Brien scored a great goal from wide on the left, curling the ball into the near post. With most of the half being played in the Clane half, Johnny Byrne moved into midfield and drove a couple of excellent shots just over the bar as the half closed. The second half started as the first half ended with Kynog on top and they quickly put the game beyond Clane as first, Joshua Lee collected a loose ball in the box and found the bottom corner, and then Brian Crosse drove a second loose ball into the top of the net. With the game over as a contest, Kynog took their foot off the gas and it was only some fine defending by Cathal Walsh that kept Clane from testing Kynog’s keeper, while Kynog continued to look for a fourth goal. This was by far Kynog’s most dominant performance of the season and all the more encouraging after the long break.
