In 2000 Kildare County Council's Arts Office commissioned Crooked
House to devise a production relating to the primary school curriculum
and to tour it to primary schools in the county.

The
show was called Clowntown and was performed in the red nose theatre
style. It dealt with several aspects of the curriculum in a creative
way, taking the children on a journey to an imaginary place called
Clowntown, where they met several characters who needed help with
unusual tasks and duties. The show featured Anna Swords-Murphy,
Sarah Kearney and Darren Donohue.
A teacher's pack on clowning was developed by the company and distributed
to schools.
The school's show for 2001 will also be in the red-nose style and
will explore social and personal issues with the children. It is
due to go on the road in April and May. Details will be posted in
the Latest news section on a regular basis.
