ST. KEVIN'S G.F.C.

The intermediate team played the first round of their championship in Carbury on the 9th of June They played Maynooth the team who beat them in the 1999 final. Again Maynooth were the stronger team & they were impossible to overcome. They still have a few games left in the league but dates have not yet been finalised. A fixture has not yet been set for the second teams championship but their league is still on going. They beat Cappagh on the 11th June and have to play Clogherinkoe on the 18th.
The minor and U/16 teams stopped for a few weeks until their exams were over. The U/16's are playing their championship on the 29th June. The U/1O, Cooleragh team played the final of their league in Newbridge on Saturday 9th June. This was a great game, they were winning the whole way through and with a few minutes to go Kinchinroe scored a goal to lead by 1 point. In extra time with about 40 seconds to go Cooleragh captain, Colin Mitchell, scored a goal and Cooleragh won the game by two points. The team was then brought to McDonalds in Newbridge to celebrate. They then did a tour in the bus with the cup, which seems to be a bit of a habit with our ever-successful underage teams. Congratulations to all the team, Frank Kilcoyne, John Casey. Bridget Carroll and Maureen Barton who all put a effort into bringing the team so far. This team will also be playing an U/10 blitz in Allenwood on Saturday the 23rd June 2001.
The Playstation Leinster G.A.A Summer Camp will be held in St Kevin's from 7th - 10th August. This date is different to the date that is in the flyers which have been given out in the schools. The cost for this summer camp is £20 per child for four days of activity. The camp starts at 10.00 a.m. and it concludes at 2.20 p.m. each day. The camp which will be held in St. Kevin's is a gaelic football camp. Boys and girls of all ages are welcome to join the camp For more information contact Sinead Casey, 869242 or (087) 6268245.
The entries for our crest competition have all been received and are being judged at the moment. Thank you to each of the three schools for participating in this competition. Winners will be announced soon. The tickets for our Monster Christmas draw will soon be in circulation. The draw is being run in the same format as the previous one.

First Prize: £10,000
Second Prize: £5,000
Third Prize: £1,500
Fourth Prize: £1,000
Fifth Prize:£500

Plus 5 Prizes of £250.

There will also be an Early Bird draw for £100 if your ticket is paid in full before the first draw. The first draw will be in August. Each ticket will again be £100 and there will be a limit of only 400 tickets in the draw. There is again a very good chance for you to have £10,000 for Christmas 2001.
The amount taken in on the draw last Christmas allowed us to have the sports floor fitted. The floor is fully fitted and in the next few weeks we hope to have it marked out, possibly for two badminton courts, a junior basketball court and a junior volleyball court. The hall will be available to any group who wishes to start a club for any sporting event, where possible. The hall has also been used for many functions in the local area. The Newtown hall group held a very successful auction in the hall on the 16th June. There will also be private functions in the hall in the month of July. The clubrooms too are also available for smaller groups for meetings or smaller functions. For more information on how the hall is available please contact any committee member.
Everyone at the club would like to wish the very best of luck to our club captain David Murphy who married Breda Garry on Saturday 23rd June 2001.
Also to Brendan Browne who is joining the Navy in the next few weeks. At the moment the Lotto is £3,700. Tickets are only £1 and can be bought from any St. Kevin's committee member and in the local shops and pubs. Our deepest sympathy goes to the Kelly family on the recent death of Peter (R.I.P.) Peter was a former secretary of the Staplestown club. Suaimlineas síoraí solas na bhFlaitheas dá anam
