POEM
When you paddle in the sea
First you shiver; then you pee
And the waves that lick your toes
Suddenly fizz up your nose
And you stumble Oh!
The shock And you swallow water---Yak!
But it’s sweaty summer weather
And its great fun altogether

Following our recent visit to Chernobyl we would like to
thank all the people who kindly helped us by donating much
needed supplies and financial aid. Having seen the conditions
first hand we can confirm that everything that is sent is
badly needed. Containers are going out on a monthly basis
and the items most needed include food, medicines, medical
equipment, bedding, toiletries and office equipment - photocopiers,
fax machines, typewriters, computers, etc. Supplies for
schools - paper, pens, chalk, books, etc, are also needed.

@ 869416. A number of events will be taking place over the
next couple of months to raise funds to bring 10 children
from the Mozier region of Chernobyl to our local area this
summer.
These events include a table quiz on Friday 20th April in
St. Kevin’s clubrooms, Staplestown, starting at 9.30 p.m.,
also a huge sale of work on the 29th April in St Kevin’s
clubrooms, from 2 p.m. onwards. A huge selection of items
will be on sale including books, toys, bric-a-brac, ornaments,
etc. Donations of items for the sale of work would be most
welcome. A coffee morning is also being planned - date to
be confirmed. For health reasons the children in the Chernobyl
area need to get out of the contaminated region in order
to help them build up their immune systems and give them
a better quality of life. If you would like to host a child
for three weeks and give them a much needed break with fresh
air and clean food please contact one of us as soon as possible
for further information.

SALE OF WORK
A sale of work by the students of Staplestown school takes
place in the school on Friday 6th April from 2 p.m. onwards.
Donations of good quality items are needed, e.g. books, bric-a-brac,
toys, jewelry, etc. Funds raised go towards sending a goat
in kid to a needy family in Africa, providing milk. When the
kids are born they are passed on to other families, thus continuing
the cycle. Also a fabulous raffle takes place on Wednesday
11th April at the school. Prizes include a wine and cheese
hamper containing red, white and rose wines with a selection
of cheeses, crackers and grapes; soft toys and a beautiful
hand crafted large clown. Tickets are £1.00 each and available
through the school, parents and pupils.
ST. KEVIN’S G.F.C.
Football has resumed again in the club after the postponements
due to the precautionary measures for foot and mouth crisis.
The intermediate team played Confey at home on Sunday 25th
March. We were leading throughout this game but with a one
point lead with only two minutes to go Confey scored a goal
and in the final minute scored another goal to go home with
three points. The next match will be on Sunday 1st April against
Caragh.
The minor team however were on the winning side of things
on Sunday. They beat Naas in this game. The U16 team traveled
to Monasterevin but unfortunately did not win their match.
The underage and girls teams are currently training awaiting
the start of their leagues.
At the moment the club is creating a crest. We are getting
help from the children in the three schools with this project.
Work is at present going ahead with our sports hall. We hope
to have the painting and floor completed within the next few
weeks. Work like this has to be carried out on a continuous
basis and funding is as always needed so we are running our
annual Christmas Draw again this year. The format of this
draw will be announced later. The Lotto Jackpot now stands
at £2400. Tickets can be purchased at local shops or from
any committee member. Irish dancing is held in the hall every
Monday evening from 6.30 - 7.30, boys and girls of all ages
are more than welcome.
