COMMUNITY IDENTITY
The Timahoe Community Development group of
Tir na Mona are liaising with Kildare County Council, via
Ann Marie Conneely, to erect a place name, at Timahoe Cross.
This will be another small step on the journey of establishing
a sense of pride in our area. Plans for two community notice-boards
are also in the pipe line …… another little step in forging
a community spirit. Another proposed plan, currently under
discussion by Kildare County Council, is the Drehid Dump.
Is this a case of two steps forward, one gigantic step back?
A dump would certainly reinforce our identity ……. But as
what? As a relatively unspoilt, rural area? As an environmentally
caring community? As a good place to live? As a place to
be proud to belong to? Or will our very name conjure up
images of heavily laden trucks thundering through in clouds
of dust? Should we let the dust settle on the proposed Drehid
Dump plans or should we take them out and give them a good
airing? That’s the important question, what’s your answer.?
THANKS
Thanks to all those who supported the Timahoe Community
Development group Cake Sale in February. The sum of £229
was raised for the Timahoe Community Meeting House building
fund.

TABLE QUIZ
The monthly table quizzes are continuing on the last Friday
of each month in Kelly‘s Bar. A very enjoyable evening was
had by all on the 30th March last when the questions were
posed by Ann & Jimmy Smyth. The April quiz on Fri 27th will
be hosted by Emily Cosgrove. Would you like a chance to
pose the questions? Contact Margaret @ 045863508 if you
would like to challenge your friends.

SYMPATHY
We would like to extend our sympathy to Maureen Gibbons
and Bill Dunne on the death of Paddy French. Paddy will
be sadly missed by all his neighbours and friends in the
community. Ar dheis De go raibh a hanam.
ACTIVE AGE GROUP
Business and pleasure were
equally balanced at the February Social of the Timahoe Active
Age Group. The business in hand was to christen the group.
15 names were suggested, listed and voted upon. Votes were
counted and the excitement mounted. By a margin of only
one vote, “Kelly’s Heroes” was duly declared selected. Liam
Egan was congratulated on his prize winning suggestion and
glasses were raised in a toast to “Kelly’s Heroes”. Business
completed, we relaxed to the soothing songs of Colin Hickson,
whose easy-listening style created a cosy, friendly atmosphere.
we appreciate Colin’s generosity in giving his time and
talents to entertain our heroes. Our compliments to our
sandwich-making team - Pat, Paula, Shirley and Margaret,
who provide a tempting variety of tasty sandwiches each
month.
The March Get Together was cancelled as a mark of respect
to Mollie Delaney R.I.P. It was with deep regret that we
heard of her death. Ar dheis De go raibh a hanam. The March
meeting has been rescheduled for Wednesday 11th April. In
Kelly’s Lounge.
The program is as follows: 8.30 - 9.30: election of a committee
9.30 (sharp!) Golden Years Table Quiz.
Please bring a pen. Refreshments as usual. The April Get
Together will be on the last Wednesday of the month as usual.
