As Chairman of Tir Na Mona I would like to wish you a happy and
prosperous New Year and I hope that more of you will get involved in the various Working
Groups and Committees in the Tir Na Mona area. We have groups working on the Environment
(Donadea Forest, Ballinafagh Lake, Spring Clean Up), Community Alert, Group Water Scheme
(the scheme is one of the biggest in the county and will bring water to households from
Timahoe to Donadea and surrounding areas) and the Community Housing Project, to mention
but a few. We have built up a very good working relationship with the County Council
through our local councilors. All of this work is being done on behalf of all the people
in the Tir Na Mona area. There is strength in numbers so make your presence felt and get
involved. If you want to find out more about how to get active in the Tir Na Mona Group
contact the office at 045- 870210.
You can get copies of the Tir Na Mona Development Plan at the office
also. This outlines our plans for the area for the next five years.
Don't forget that the Annual Spring Clean up will take place on the 4th
March. We need everyone to come out and do their bit. Watch the Leinster Leader for
details.
The New Millennium represents a new beginning but it is also a time for
reflection and we are glad to carry a message from the religious leaders in our community.
