HURLING FINAL

Coill Dubh overcame a gritty Ardlough team in the Senior Hurling Championship Final in Newbridge on Sunday the 13th of September. Coill Dubh had the better of the first-half exchanges with Noel Casey and John Byrne at midfield being very effective. With five minutes gone in the second half, Coill Dubh were looking likely winners, but Ardlough, to their credit, came back and took the lead with former Dublin All-Star Brian McMahon shaking the Coill Dubh net, with a fine goal and being at the centre of Ardloughs attacks. In a frantic finish Colm Byrne struck the decisive score from a long free, well into injury time. Tony Carew was Coill Dubh’s best player and he was well supported by John and Colm Byrne, Adrian McAndrew and Noel Casey. Best of Ardlough were Colm Buggy who scored 1-8 and Brian McMahon.
