The Curragh had a good start to the season with 4 wins, 1 loss and a draw against a well balanced Rathmines side. The result could have gone either way with Richard and Mark scraping wins in difficult circumstances and Niall obtaining a draw when his opponent could not convert a bishop and pawn v pawn endgame into a win as Niall kept his King in the corner with his opponent unable to capitalise with the wrong squared bishop.
Noel scored yet another win to continue his unbeaten run for the Curragh since 2002. Peter and his opponent had time to adjourn their game for a coffee break (not something that even the LCU rules thought of!) Round 2 is on Saturday October 30th away to Naomh Barrog (Kilbarrack).
