The third annual Kildare Festival of Youth Drama gathers some 120 young people aged between 14 and 25 from the four corners of Kildare to take part in this fun packed, dynamic and inventive summer project.

Providing opportunities to stage work that they've made in their home venues and to workshop together other pieces for performance.

Participating groups include Celbridge Youth Drama, Griese Youth Drama (Ballitore), Prosperous Young Drama and Kildare Youth Theatre @Crooked House.

Each group stages a play in the evening and each aims to contribute short new pieces of work to the lunchtime slots.

At the moment the groups primary goal is the success of Nocturne, a play written by our members for the Wyeth Kildare Festival of Youth Drama. There is a lot of work underway including set design and construction, costumes, lighting sounds and special effects. The play is a thrilling piece of drama with horror undertones. Inspired by the music of Danse Macabre by Saint Saens.

Also under construction for Wyeth Kildare is another performance of Margaret Cosgroves 'Stranded'. The play is a short, two cast piece which depicts a less than typical night out at the debs ball. Margaret is a founding member of CYD and is the clubs secretary.

The group is hoping to organise a festival in October for young writers and directors. More details will be available here soon.

Its safe to say that there are a number of scripts in development at the moment. Members can log in to view the scripts archive online by clicking scripts archive in the above navigation bar
