Women's Irish Network for Racing Launched in Naas

WINR launched on International Women's Day.

Over 60 Women From Racing Industry Attend Inaugural Event
On Wednesday evening, March 8th the Women's Irish Network for Racing (WINR) was launched with a speed networking event in Lawlor's Hotel in Naas. The event coincided with International Women’s Day.

WINR is a project aiming to develop a network of women involved in racing and breeding, offering each other support, advice and introductions.

During the 90 minute event in Naas, each guest spent three minutes chatting with each other, using the ‘speed dating’ model. In total, over 1000 connections were made during the evening with the aim of having a positive impact on women’s roles in racing and breeding.

Women who participated in the event came from a variety of backgrounds – studs, racing yards, racecourses, racing administration and management, vets, media and students.

Meta Osborne, The Turf Club’s Senior Steward and WINR co-founder said: “We have had an amazing response to our first event and judging from the feedback, most people want the same thing - to connect with other women involved in Irish racing and breeding. We hope everyone found the evening useful and increased their network in a fun, relaxed environment.”

Meta Osborne continued: “There is no hierarchy or committee – participants will be asked for feedback about what should happen next and the baton will be passed to the next team to organise an event – it could be a ‘behind the scenes’ tour of a feed mill, an inspirational speaker, a CV review session or a day at the races.”

Women are free to join WINR, and further information can be obtained by emailing irishwomenracing@gmail.com
