2003 Ballykelly County Players
It is no surprise that yet again, in 2003, the county selectors have seen the talent that abounds in Ballykelly.
There are now 9 county level players counted among the ranks of the Ballykelly girls. They are Geraldine and Mags McCormack
(for the senior team),Caoimhe Harrison, Amy Burtenshaw, Amy Lawler, and Donna Gorry (minor team ), Sharon Melia (U16 team), Ann Marie Fitzgerald and Karen Conway (U14 team). Ballykelly are very luck to
have such talented players, but equally the county is very lucky to have such talent to avail of. Well done girls.

Leinster Ladies Football Under 12 Blitz

In Carlow Hurling Club Grounds
The Leinster Under 12 Blitz held in Carlow at the hurling grounds on Monday 3rd June was Kildare's most successful yet. A Kildare team was entered in Division 1 and Cill Dara played in Division 2.
Division 1 included Meath, Laois, Wexford and Dublin as well as Kildare who, in the past mostly competed in Division 2. Having drawn with Meath, Kildare beat Dublin and Wexford, drew with Laois and then faced Meath in the Semi-Final late in the afternoon, went a goal down but came back to win. The final was again a close battle with Laois and finished level and the dreaded penalty shoot out followed and Laois won it.
In Division 2, the Cill Dara squad swept all before them. Laois 'B', Wicklow, Dublin 'B', Laois 'C', Meath 'B; and Wexford 'B; all bit the dust in the round robin. Laois 'B; in the Semi-Final and Dublin 'B' in the Final got a second dose of Cill Dara medicine as the captain for the final, Suzy Coffey, led her team to the presentation and collected the silverware. Kildare had won this title in 2002 so regaining it was a satisfactory outcome.
The teams had Emma Rochford, Paul Drumm and Bernadette Walsh in charge of Kildare while Noel Dinenny, Claire Byrne, Mary Deay with Brian Byrne looked after the Cill Dara squad while Iona Daly's (ballykelly) Mum attending as a supporting Parent was roped in as medic/physio. Having had their first match at 10 am the stretching at half time in the Division 2 final was especially important at 7:30 in the evening, in the eighth game of the day the expert kept cramp at bay,.
