The official launch of the Rhyl element of the Rhyl Athy Regeneration project took place on 28 th April in Llandrillo College, Rhyl. Over 100 guests were in attendance, 16 of whom travelled from Athy for the occasion. The 16 delegates from Athy included the RAR project team, Athy Steering Committee, Cathaoirleach John Lawler, members from Athy business community and members from Athy Chamber of Commerce.
Mayor of Rhyl, Cllr Glyn Williams, welcomed the delegation from Athy and officially launched the project in Rhyl indicating an enthusiasm from all parties involved on both sides of the water for successfully creating initiatives to assist in the regeneration of both Athy and Rhyl. Cathaoirleach John Lawler thanked Mayor Williams for his kind words and also the opportunity to attend the occasion. Cathaoirleach Lawler also spoke about the commitment of the people of Athy and support agencies ensuring that the project reaches its full potential.

Other speakers at the launch included Cllr Meirick Davies of Denbighshire County Council, Barrie Mellor of Arriva Buses and Andrew Rainsford, Project Coordinator, Rhyl.
Guests spent time networking with enterprises from Rhyl where information stands had been placed around the college. “I was delighted to bring such a large delegation from Athy. It is clear indication of commitment for the project” said Dorian Marks, Project Coordinator, Athy. |
