Kate Maher, B. A. (Hons) Fine Art, P.G.C.E. Kate Maher, B. A. (Hons) Fine Art, P.G.C.E.

The course is coordinated by Kate Maher. Kate is a graduate of Fine Art at the National College of Art and Design, Dublin, and has also studied with the Fine Art Academy in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Her work is mainly sculpturally based, but she has experience in print, painting, fabrics and puppetry. Kate has gained a Post Graduate Certificate of Education in Primary Teaching, and has also worked as a special needs assistant and a kindergarten assistant. She currently works as a class teacher, and has a keen interest in child development in education, specifically through the arts. She studied both music and drama with the Royal Irish Academy of Music and Trinity Guildhall London, and taught music at Kildare International School of Excellence for Young Musicians (KISEYM) at Herbert Lodge for six years

Aoiffe Brennan Aoiffe Brennan, B.A. (Hons) Int., P. G. E.

The assistant coordinator is Aoiffe Brennan. Aoiffe has graduated from University College Dublin with a combined degree in Art History and Languages, and has also attended the Universite Paris IV le Pantheon-Sorbonne, studying History of Art. She has studied teaching at Trinity College Dublin.

Aoiffe has a strong background in painting, classical Art History and Contemporary Visual Culture. She has worked with primary schools in the area, and this is her fifth year working at Arty Cats


Location

Herbet LodgeHerbert Lodge is located on the Curragh plains, which makes it an ideal location for this summer camp. The children will be encouraged to use objects from the surrounding nature in their artwork. There is ample parking for parents to safely drop off and collect their children, and lots of secure space on the grounds of the Lodge means plenty of room for fun and games during lunch!

Herbert Lodge Arts Centre was opened in September 1991, and has flourished as a music school and cultural centre since then. It promotes the cultural ethos of the area, and is an exciting and interesting place for reflective, innovative and creative activities. Children come to Herbert Lodge on a daily basis to study music and are taught in both traditional and classical mode. Herbert Lodge now facilitates over 20 teachers giving weekly instruction in many instruments, including violin, cello, piano, guitar, flute, voice and Kindermusic.
