The Riverbank Arts Centre is delighted to welcome the Collaboration between Cork guitarist, Mark O’Leary and Swiss sound artist, Güenter Müeller for their first performance in Co Kildare on Friday 25th July.
Together they will present a concert of Improvised Ambient Sound Art; a kaleidoscope of electronic washes and daps against a canvas of lush analogue textures. This is cutting edge Atmospheric Electronica, using a panorama of contrasting soundscapes juxtaposed with manipulated samples of field recordings.
Mark O’Leary has been called “Ireland’s most creative jazz guitarist” by Jazzwise UK magazine and has performed with some of the top names in contemporary Jazz, Improvisation and Folk. He studied in California at the Musician’s Institute in the late 80’s and since then has performed with Jack De Johnette and as a member of pianist Paul Bley’s trio. Also in Mark’s expansive career he has played with some top Nordic musicians.
Güenter Müeller is one of Europe’s most critically acclaimed sound artists and owner of Music For 4 Ears record label. He is an accomplished drummer and musical experimenter. He has played an electronically modified kit since 1981, when he rigged it to allow for on the spot modulating of drum sounds using a mobile pick-up and adapted microphone system. Born in Munich, Germany in 1954 he now chooses to live in Switzerland.
To expose your ears and eyes to this meeting of nations, music and sound art is an experience not to be missed.
