Arts in Libraries Programme - ‘Call for Interest’

Kildare County Council

Arts In Libraries Kildare County Council Arts Service invites submissions from interested Artists across all disciplines for inclusion in the 2008 rollout of the Arts in Libraries Programme. The programme aims to provide quality arts experiences for children and young people delivered in community library settings throughout Kildare.

Interested artists should submit proposals outlining workshop ideas for one-day workshops and longer-term residencies in Libraries during 2008.
A facility to adapt and tailor to specific needs with the ability to focus on specific groups or targeted service users is desirable.

  • Workshops will be offered to all children and young people throughout the Library Service
  • Artists will need the ability to plan, implement and manage projects
  • The Arts Service will be the initial point of contact between Artist and Libraries. Subsequently Artists will be expected to develop and maintain autonomous relationships with library staff
  • Collaboration and consultation with library staffs concerning design of workshops to target particular groups, service users or specific events will form an integral part of the process.
  • Artists will be expected to inform and update Library Staffs on content, processes and expected outcomes of workshops
  • Evaluation of previous programming would indicate a need for both short and long term projects at this time. Therefore delivery in some locations will be of a more ‘one day’ nature while affording a longer lead in and delivery time in other situations
  • Ideally artists will have previous experience working with groups or, in an education / community context
  • Possess good communication skills
  • The Arts Service is particularly interested in new and innovative approaches to engage and challenge local audiences through contemporary art practices
  • Before submittiting proposals Artists should bear in mind that branch library characteristics vary from small rural locations to urban commuter town
  • Artists will need their own transport

  • Detailed description of workshop content with projected outcomes
  • C.V./ Biography
