Kildare County Council Arts Service: An overview of our service for teachers

Twilight flights of fancy

Presentation for Teachers, Wednesday 20 May, Kildare Education Centre, 7.30pm - 9.30pm

Kildare County Council Arts Service offers resources, training opportunities, workshops and an advisory service to primary and secondary schools throughout the county. This presentation will give teachers an insight into the extensive range of programmes and practical services we can offer including:

    •   If I had an Artist for A Day: innovative and active workshops for primary schools delivered by 'working artists' in visual art, dance, drama and music.
    •   Laban In Practice In Dance in Education: Approved by the Dept. of Education, a summer course for primary teachers exploring creative approaches to curriculum delivery including ICT,with emphasis on the artistic, cultural and expressive dimension of movement.
    •   Platform 4 Recording Project in Leixlip Library: professional recording studios and mentoring for young and emerging musicians.
    •   Transition Year Programme: Sound Engineering opportunities in Leixlip studios.
    •   Kildare County Council’s Municipal Art Collection: Resource material for Leaving Certificate Art History relating to the Municipal Collection.
    •   Mentoring Service for education providers regarding arts programming options.
    •   Public Art in Education: gives students opportunity to engage with the best in contemporary art in their public realm, and explore and investigate local artworks and artists through our website, workshops, site visits and projects.
