Kildare County Council Arts Service, Youth Arts training programme 2009.
Kildare County Councils Youth Arts Strategy 2009 – 2011 outlines the commitment to the training of youth leaders, young people and emerging artists throughout County Kildare.  A series of training and mentoring programmes has been designed to fulfil this commitment and also stimulate artistic development in the field.

How to… Direct a play with young people.
Tuesday, October 27th 10am – 5pm.

This one day training, facilitated by the National Association for Youth Drama (NAYD), will offer leaders working with young people practical advice and techniques for directing a play.

This training is aimed at:
Youth leaders and volunteers who would like to direct a play with their group. Youth leaders and volunteers who are already directing shows / performances with their groups and want to pick up some new skills in this area.


Part 1: Training 10am – 12.30pm

The training will focus on:
Basic acting techniques
Different approaches to directing
How to pick a suitable play for young people
How to design set / costumes on a budget.
How to put together a production plan

Part 2: Practical application 2pm – 5pm

This training will be followed by a practical workshop with a trained youth drama facilitator. Participants will take part in a workshop that will put the skills learned earlier in the day into practice.

Fees:
€20 (including lunch)
€10 for youth leaders from Kildare.
