Maynooth Film For All, Film Club 2007/2008

Calling all film buffs!! Maynooth Film for All, film club has recently been established in Maynooth. Members will have the opportunity to view a selection of eight of the finest international films of the last two years in all their glory on a big screen. The comfortable surroundings of the JHL1, lecture hall in the John Hume building, North Campus, Maynooth College is the venue for the club .The season kicks off on the 11th October with the screening of Perfume followed by Volver starring Penelope Cruz on the 15th November.
The screenings will be preceded by a brief introduction by staff from the Media Studies Department of NUI Maynooth. These openings will give some contextual information outlining elements of plot and style, details of the social and political situations in which the films were made and the careers of the various director’s, producers and actors. The lecturers will have knowledge of the film culture of the diverse countries from which the films come and may be drawn from other departments i.e. lecturers from the Spanish department will discuss the two Spanish films to be shown before Christmas.
Membership is open to all over 18yrs. and costs €45.00 for a full season with a concessionary rate of €20.00 available to students and OAP’s, plus joining fee to the Library Service if you are not already a member.
