The Music Suite @ Leixlip Library

Commencing in September 2006, Leixlip Library played host to some of the finest musicians in the country for an innovative music development programme.

PLATFORM I was a series of monthly workshops featuring the cream of Irish singer songwriter talent including Steve and Joe Wall, (Stunning, The Walls), Mundy, Declan O’Rourke, Ollie Cole, with Marilyn Bane. This series provided a unique opportunity for those who have ever wanted to pick up a guitar or sing their own song while learning from the masters.

The intimate surroundings of the Leixlip Library and Arts facility provided the perfect backdrop to listen to, debate with and mostly be inspired by Irelands leading musicians and songwriters.

Platform I was the first stage of a long-term music development initiative that is being funded by the Kildare County Council.

Platform II, a Battle of the Bands competition, to select two Kildare bands to perform at the New Band Stage at Oxegen 2007, followed this initiative.

Platform III, a music development programme, based in the Music Suite @ Leixlip Library, which centres on song writing, mentoring and recording, for emerging bands from Co Kildare, will be launched shortly.
