Kildare Dance Summer School
The Kildare Dance Summer School was established in 2003 as a bi-annual event at NUI Maynooth. The Summer School programme is based on Laban fundamentals i.e. The Body, Space, Effort, Relationship. It was initially devised in order to provide Laban Guild Community Dance Leader Course participants with the opportunity to attend a Summer School in Ireland. (Attendance at an approved Summer School is required as part of this course). However it has attracted a much broader range of people and is open to those with no previous experience of dance or Laban's work.

SUMMER SCHOOL CONTENT
Kildare Dance Summer School offers a 'pick and mix' programme to allow participants to be immersed in an exciting range of approaches to dance. Previous programmes have included the following workshops:
• Intuitive Dance
• Dance into Drama
• Laban Studies
• Morning Dance Shakeup
• Motivating Young People
• Toolbox for Choreography
• Dance in Education
• Music for Dance
• Movement Choir
Participation in the Kildare Dance Summer School gives you a chance to:
• Develop your dance skills through technique classes and choreographic workshops.
• Continue your professional development and see how you can apply your dance
skills to working in different sections of the community - including youth groups,
education, those with special needs.
• Dance for the fun of it! Just enjoy sessions in creative dance and the unique
experience of a Movement Choir.
The next Kildare Dance Summer School will take place Summer 2009.
