South Kildare Child and Family Service

Eastern Health Board

People attend a Child and Family Service with a wide range of difficulties. Some common reasons for attending are listed below, but there are many other types of problems for which children and families can seek help.

· Behavioral difficulties

· Bereavement issues

· Difficulties coping with separation

· Difficulties coping after an accident or difficult experience

· Eating problems, such as over or under eating

· Difficulties coping with family relationships

· Anxiety, panic, phobias and obsessions

· Depression

· Concern about a child's social development or ability to make and keep relationships

· Staff will listen to parents and children in order to try to understand and help children and their families to make sense of the difficulties

· Offer guidance and advice rather than giving a "magic"answer

· Offer therapy, if that seems appropriate
