South Kildare Child and Family Service

Eastern Health Board

People attend a Child and Family Service with a wide range of difficulties. Some common reasons for attending are listed below, but there are many other types of problems for which children and families can seek help.

Behavioral difficulties

Bereavement issues

Difficulties coping with separation

Difficulties coping after an accident or difficult experience

Eating problems, such as over or under eating

Difficulties coping with family relationships

Anxiety, panic, phobias and obsessions

Depression

Concern about a child's social development or ability to make and keep relationships

Staff will listen to parents and children in order to try to understand and help children and their families to make sense of the difficulties

Offer guidance and advice rather than giving a "magic"answer

Offer therapy, if that seems appropriate
