The Vocational Training
Opportunities Scheme (VTOS) provides adults with the
opportunity to return to learning. It offers a
variety of courses for people over 21 who are in receipt
of Social Welfare. We also offer a number of
part-time options for people looking for a flexible
introduction to further education (BTEI).
At present VTOS in Athy caters for
65 students. VTOS Athy places an emphasis on
hands-on practical work as well as group and personal
projects. All courses are validated by institutes
which are recognised by employers and
colleges.
VTOS encourages students to acheive
their own learning goals, facilitating them in creating
a greater awareness of their own abilities, thus gaining
confidence in every aspect of their lives.
Timetables are drawn up for
individuals with an emphasis on subjects that would
enhance previous work experience or educational
awards. Career Guidance is available to all
students, as is a personal counselling
service.
