Straffan
is a small village close to Celbridge and Maynooth . It has
many local attractions including the Steam Museum and Butterfly
Farm.
On the outskirts of the village, the Kildare Hotel & Country Club, or K Club, a five star hotel, is the venue for the Smurfit European Open every August.
The Gaelic for Straffan is "Sruthan", meaning ‘The Stream'.

Butterfly Farm
This elegant and unique butterfly farm is Ireland's
first live Tropical Exhibition. The Exhibition was first
opened in 1986. It is an indoor, all weather centre & you
can enjoy the beauty of both exotic butterflies and plants.
Morrell Farm
Morrell Farm is a great day out for children and
adults. It is a unique open farm, offering a warm welcome
to visitors. There is a picnic area and real home baking
is available at the coffee shop.

Museum
At the Guinness Steam Museum you will be able to
visit the power hall displaying full size "live steam" engines,
a walled garden, a teahouse, a multi-media information channel
and a hands-on area.
