Curragh to Support Breast Cancer Research

Race day 21st August 2016

The Curragh Racecourse will stage a race day to promote Breast Cancer Research on Sunday 21st August.

The top class seven race programme starting at 2.15pm will feature the Group 2 Breast Cancer Research Debutante Stakes, sponsored by Jim Bolger and John Corcoran, one of the most valuable and prestigious races in the Irish racing calendar for two year old fillies. This year’s dual Classic winning filly Minding was runner up in the race last year to her stable companion Ballydoyle both trained by Aidan O’Brien

The sponsors will also present cash prizes to the value of 1000 euro to the grooms in charge of the top three horses judged to be best turned out in the race

Joe Higgins will also support a race to benefit the charity during the afternoon.

The race day, which features a number of races that are trials for Longines Irish Champions Weekend, also includes the Galileo Futurity Stakes (Group 2) and Kilfrush Stud Royal Whip Stakes, one of the most historic races in the Irish racing calendar

Evan Arkwright, speaking on behalf of the Curragh Racecourse, commented,

“We are delighted to support Breast Cancer Research and to assist them to generate awareness of the wonderful work being carried out which will potentially save hundreds of lives”
