Formula Vee Festival in Aid of Laura Lynn

Formula Vee Festival in Aid of Laura Lynn

Mondello Park, July 9/10th

Newtown native Mark Reade will hit the track at Mondello Park on July 9/10th for the Formula Vee Festival, one of the main calendar highlights of the Irish Formula Vee Championship.  The Festival event began at Mondello in 2012, enjoying huge success in the following 2 years, prior to a sabbatical in 2015.

Reade entered the season with a bang at Bishopscourt earlier this year, having missed the opening championship round. Reade took class honours during both races held at the Northern Irish circuit and backed that up with a 3rd place at his home track of Mondello during the June 11/12th weekend. Thanks to this strong run of form, he is currently in the thick of the championship battle, despite missing the first event of the year.

Reade will pilot his Kilmeague built Leastone JH004 for the weekend and, with the support of the works Leastone team behind him, he will look to further improve his title chances during the championship rounds on Saturday. This gets the serious business out of the way, before a jammed packed Sunday sees a number of heats, which will ultimately decide the grid for the Formula Vee festival final. In addition to the Vees, a number of support races will complete an entertaining day for those in attendance.

In its three years, the Formula Vee festival has raised close to €45,000 for various charities, most recently the LauraLynn children’s hospice. The 2016 festival has once again partnered with LauraLynn which will see 100% of ticket sales go to the hospice, along with all proceeds from a number of fundraising events that will take place throughout the weekend. This includes a charity auction, which will take place at the track on Saturday evening. The Formula Vee association have been able to ensure that all proceeds from the weekend will go to the hospice thanks to a number of sponsors; most notably title event sponsors; Finol Oils.

Racing starts at 12pm on both days and entry has been set at €10 per car, regardless of number of occupants!
