The Curragh Racecourse is Ireland’s premier flat racecourse staging all five Classics and is one of Ireland’s leading sporting and entertainment venues.  Staging 18 racemeetings each year and with over 1,000 racehorses trained on its training grounds, the Curragh is the spiritual home of horse racing in Ireland. The Curragh is about to embark on a major redevelopment of its facilities supported by both public and privately funded investment.  The Curragh Racecourse Limited is a newly formed company which has been established to oversee the redevelopment and day to day operation of this leading venue.

The Job

We are now seeking to recruit a Design & Construction Manager reporting to the Project Director on a 3 year fixed term contract. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop a detailed working knowledge of all project plans, specifications, contracts, correspondence, drawings and other related project documents, ensuring an in depth and practical understanding of the project objectives
  • Interrogate project documentation at detailed design stage, ensuring that user requirements are met in relation to key technical design elements
  • Maintain and regularly report on detailed project progress reports and monitor general progress on site in relation to program and quality
  • Analyse change requests/proposals and make recommendations
  • Manage construction contracts awarded under the CWMF frame-work and GCCC contract
  • Supervise construction and refurbishment works on site
  • Participate in the preparation of cost analysis and cost reporting
  • Manage/coordinate the client facing aspects of the project document management system


The Person

Possess a Third Level degree in engineering, construction or equivalent discipline with a related professional qualification.  A minimum of 5 years significant construction project experience with experience of delivering projects within a “live” site and with demolition.  Proven expertise in building contract administration and the CWMF and knowledge of the current BCAR requirements.  A multitasker with experience in a fast paced environment, excellent communication and organisational skills with strong analytical and problem solving ability.
