Adelaide Masters Series Returns to Mondello Park

Adelaide Masters Series returns to the Mondello Park National Circuit on August 30th and 31st

Following another enthralling trip to Bishopscourt the Adelaide Masters Series returns to the Mondello Park National Circuit on August 30th & 31st for its fourth of five events.

The Championship, which benefits from backing from Motorcycle Insurance Specialists Adelaide Insurance Services, put on a fantastic show at Bishopscourt with the Superbike and Supersport races and the Grand Final for the Norman Brown Trophy providing the majority of the entertainment.

Cody Nally did not have his best event of the year at Bishopscourt but still left Co. Down with his Superbike Championship lead intact. Just one trip to the podium was enough for the series leader as his main rivals David Haire and Brian McCormack failed to gain significant ground due to the domination of the event by Marshall Neill. Neill took both Superbike wins and followed up by taking the Norman Brown trophy for the third year in a row to set a new record.

In Supersport it was two new names on the top step of the podium as British Championship regular Nikki Coates took his first ever series win in race one and Robert Kennedy took the top step in race two. Championship leader Carl Phillips did not have a happy time at his home track as he failed to finish race one, but he bounced back to take second in race two, to leave the track with his healthy series lead intact.

In the Superbike Cup class the championship lead changed hands after race two as double class winner Declan Hoey took full advantage of Raymond Casey's crash to move ahead of him and into a slender championship lead. In Supersport, Kevin Keyes snatched second and third place finishes to maintain his championship push. Ross Patterson won both Cup races but has a long way to go before he can make any inroads into Keyes healthy lead.

All eyes will now switch to the penultimate event of the season, at Mondello Park in three weeks time. With an even stronger entry expected for Mondello the championship battles will really start to hot up. Nally will be out to re-assert himself in Superbike, having gone through a slight slump recently which has seen him go win-less for an uncharacteristic five races in a row.

The Supersport series continues to be highly competitive and with Robert Kennedy upping his game and Nikki Coates intending to continue in the series, Carl Phillips will have to work very hard to keep his sights on the trophy he so narrowly missed out on last season.
