Polish Drift King to Star at Mondello Modified Live

Polish Drift King to Star at Mondello Modified Live

The first big Modified Car Show of the year hits Mondello on Sun. April 27th.

Round one of the Irish Drift Championship (IDC), Time-Attack and a very special guest appearance by Polish Drift sensation Pawel Trela.

Modified Live will host round one of Ireland's biggest Drift Series, the IDC, which returns for its second year headlining the show. All of Ireland's top drifters will be out in force trying to get their season off to a flying start over two days of drifting action but the championship regulars will have some extra competition at Round 1

Joining them will be Polish Drifting sensation Pawel Trela, who is a regular in the European Drift Allstars series. Pawel regularly competes all over Europe where he has come up against some of the IDC's best, such as Nigel Colfer, Alan Sinnott and teenager Jack Shanahan, but this will be his first chance to take them on, on their home ground. Trela will bring his 900+BHP Opel GT based drift machine to Ireland and this will mark the first ever appearance of Opel's sports car in an Irish Drifting event.

The IDC competition will take place over two days. Saturday will feature the Amateur competition and Pro practice. The best drivers from the Amateur event will not only be battling for points in their championship on Saturday but will also be looking to earn a place in qualify on Sunday morning where places in the main event will be up for grabs. Sunday's schedule will feature IDC pro qualifying, IDC Superlap and the Top 16 run-off.

The Modified Live timetable will be a very bust one with Round 2 of the Irish Drift Championship also on track. The Time-Attack Series will have four sessions alternating on track with the Drifter competition. Two qualifying sessions will be followed by an open final where drivers can complete as many laps as they wish and the Superlap Final where each driver will have just one flying lap in which to set their time.

Off track there will be plenty to see in between Track sessions. All of the Drifters who are competing on Sunday will have their cars on display in the Mondello Park paddock alongside some of Ireland's best modified metal. The paddock displays will be made up of owners clubs, web site and individuals as well as cars competing in the Autoglym Show & Shine Competition and an extensive trade area.

Mondello Modified Live will follow the venues popular show format of mixing live action and static displays and will be the biggest Irish Modified Car event of the year outside of Septembers Jap-Fest. Display space is limited and entries for clubs, organisations and individual exhibitors and traders are now being taken. For information on how to get involved, car owners, clubs, websites and traders should contact Mondello Park on 045-860200 or info@mondellopark.ie.
