380k Funding for South Kildare Towns

Athy, Kildare town, Ballymore Eustace, Timolin and Ballitore are to benefit from funding under the €10m Town and Village Renewal Scheme.

Kildare South TD Martin Heydon said:

“My colleague, the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Heather Humphreys, has announced that 172 towns and villages across the country are set to benefit from €10 million in funding under the 2016 Town and Village Renewal Scheme.

“I am delighted that this includes €380,000 for Kildare Towns and Villages Athy, Kildare Town, Ballymore Eustace, Timolin, Ballitore and Prosperous.  The funds will assist a range of worthy projects in the towns in conjunction with local community groups and businesses.

“€95,000 will go towards the upgrade of the town square in Athy.  €95,000 will go towards consultants to work on a framework for the town centre in Kildare Town, €45,000 is allocated for landscape enhancement in Ballymore Eustace, €20,000 for a feature at the entrance to Timolin, and €25,000 for the Tanyard Project in Ballitore.  €100,000 has been allocated for landscape enhancement and a car park at Prosperous.

“The delivery of an enhanced Town and Village Scheme in time for Budget 2017 was a commitment in the Programme for A Partnership Government. Under Budget 2017, Minister Humphreys also announced that she has secured increased funding for the scheme for 2017, when €12 million will be made available to towns and villages across the country.

“I welcome the funding which is a great boost to these Kildare communities and I look forward to working with local groups to see the projects brought to a reality.”
