Introduction to Not Only Adults Drink Tea:
The research document entitled Not Only Adults Drink Tea (2009) was born of consultation commissioned by Kildare County Council Library and Arts Services in response to the document Teenspace: A National Recreation Policy for Young People (2007) published by the Office of the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs.
An independent researcher (Jennie McGinn) was engaged by KLAS to consult directly during 2008 and 2009 with children, teens, service providers and youth advocates throughout Kildare. The resulting document Not Only Adults Drink Tea examines how young people in Kildare engage with library and arts services as delivered by Kildare County Council, and puts forward a number of key recommendations around improving youth services, programmes, spaces and library and arts engagement.
