Alex Barclay
Alex Barclay enthralls with a blend of psychological suspense, multidimensional characters and sophisticated, edgy plot-lines. She chooses to examine the dark side of the human condition, and if we are intrigued and disturbed by the violence in her fiction, it stems, as Barclay sees it, from our ability to identify with it. Alex Barclay was born in Dublin and studied journalism at university. She worked as a journalist and copywriter before writing her first novel
Darkhouse, featuring NYPD detective, Joe Lucchesi
. Published in 2005, it established Alex as a major voice in crime fiction. The sequel,
The Caller, was released in 2007. It was followed by
Blood Runs Cold, which introduced FBI Agent Ren Bryce, and won the 2009 Ireland AM Crime Fiction Award at the Irish Book Awards. The second Ren Bryce novel,
Time of Death, was published in 2010. Alex is currently working on the sequel, set for release in 2011.
